Some Small Oil Paintings

These are some recent small oil paintings.  They are available for purchase on my website.

My favorite tree, again

5x7

This was done plein aire at the Gustavus Community Garden. I started raining as soon as I got there and the only place to stay dry was under the eave of the shed with no view of the actual garden.

original oil painting 11x15 inches

I'm still painting my favorite trees every year.  Soon the small spruce will cover my view.

THE LITTLE GALLERY

The Little Gallery is open for the summer after being closed for the last two years.   I have lots of new paintings  on display as well as my cards, older woodblock prints and paintings, and a few antiques and collectables.  Most of my newer work is in oil.

I am either open or can open almost anytime that I am home, which is most of the time. You can call or text me at 209-1700 or call 697-2283 to make sure I am around or to arrange for  a visit.

Follow the signs from west of the Salmon River bridge to the end of Lupine Way. (aka Lupine Lane)

These wide-angle photos make the rooms look larger than they actually are.

Painting Florida

I'm usually planning a trip to Florida in January.  That isn't happening this year.  So I imagined myself there painting these two from photos from previous years.

Above is from a walk at the Lake Kissimmee State Park.  It is painted on Yupo paper with watercolor and gouache.

Below is from a walk in Cedar Key.

My Most Recent Camping Trip

11x14 inch oil

I just finished this painting from a photograph from my most recent camping trip, which was in 2018...hard to believe it has been so long. This was a view from the third of three nights in the Beardslee Islands in Glacier Bay. Below are some small watercolors that I did on the trip.

Big Clouds

14x11 inch oil

This is a recent painting from a photograph I took in 2018.

Below are two watercolors painted in 2018.  Both are about 7x5 inches.

The photo was taken at the Gustavus beach.  In all three paintings, I have not placed trees where they actually were.  In most of my Gustavus work, I do try to depict a certain place.  Our landscape is rapidly changing, and I hope others appreciate in my paintings what they remember of the environment from only a few years ago.

Summer Magic

6x6 oil

I used a photo for reference for the sky on this one and memory for the land mass and trees, remembering a campsite in the Beardsley Islands in Glacier Bay.  This was painted on museum mat board that was prepared with several coats of gesso.
