I just finished this watercolor/gouache from the same photo that I used for the little oil painting below. They were both from a photo I took a couple of summers ago while looking for orchids near the Bartlett Cove Road.
The watercolor looks more like the photo, but I like the light in this one better..... this scan of it could be better.
This is the upland area of "middle beach" in Gustavus is between the
Salmon River and Good River. We that live between the two rivers call
it our beach. There are no roads to it and it is part of the Nature
Conservancy. In the spring it is very colorful with flowering sweet
gale and rusty colored horse tail.
